Our Story

Founding Fat City

Founding Fat City
A native of Stockton, Don developed a love for BBQ when he and his best friend Noah starting smoking ribs. He's very passionate about the California Style BBQ that he spent years perfecting. That love for cooking led to him opening a retail store in 2010. The immersion into the world of BBQ then led Don to want more. What was once a hobby, grew into a career and Fat City Brew & BBQ was born.

In December 2010, Don opened their first location in Marengo Center, adjacent to Chucks. A welcome spot for BBQ enthusiasts, they dabbled in grills, smokers, and accessories, embracing our passion for the evolving world of BBQ. In December 2014, Don set up shop at Lincoln Center, spending three years as a BBQ retail and Homebrewing haven. February 2017 brought taps into the mix, and the craving for culinary excellence led us to introduce food to the menu.

Their journey hit a historic stride as they relocated to the Miracle Mile. The accolades poured in; within months of the 2018 Mile debut, San Joaquin Magazine hailed Fat City 'Best of' in 'New Restaurant and Best BBQ.' Soon after, their trophy shelf brimmed with 'Best Of' honors, a testament to their dedication and passion. Customers know they're in for a treat when they arrive at Fat City's doorstep – a decade of BBQ mastery awaits.
